Those Days in SCCSC
I still remember the moment that I was confused and desired to go abroad to study and came to SCCSC with the support of parents. I didn't know if this was a right choice because I was introverted, shy, and even confused about my future at that time.
Not long after the first year of high school, all kinds of school activities followed. I seem to be exposed to a new environment, trying to adapt myself. In the speech contest of English culture week that year, my teacher asked me to challenge myself. At first, I was reluctant to participate, because I was afraid to face the judges and students sitting in the audience. Later, with the encouragement of the teacher, I went with the attitude of trying. I remember my hands shaking as I stood on the stage in the multifunctional hall. I stepped down, with a sigh of relief, as if I had finally completed a difficult task. It was the first time in my high school career that I spoke in front of many people. Looking back, I really appreciate that experience. Since then, I seem to have less fear of the stage than before. I even began to seize more such opportunities to exercise themselves. In class, I actively raised my hand to answer questions. I took part in the recruitment and new selection of the literature and art department of the school development committee and successfully became one of them. At the same time, I also joined the leadership community and business community to strive for further improvement. I began to hope that I would become better, rather than escape as before. This was the first change that SCCSC gave me.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I was lucky enough to be the host of the art festival. I was no longer the little girl with stage fright, but bravely and confidently faced the whole school. At the moment when I finished hosting, I was no longer relieved. Instead, I had a sense of accomplishment and was delighted with my change. In the following grade activities, I also served as the host for many times. Thank you for giving me such a platform, so that I can have the opportunity to show myself. In September this year, I took part in the national English speech contest for middle school students and received valuable Suggestions from the judges. An introverted little girl gradually became confident, from not daring to speak at the beginning to standing gracefully on the stage later, which was the second change that SCCSC gave me.
For a long time, I have been the English class representative and monitor. Gradually, I found that I could complete the tasks assigned by the teacher and help the teacher manage the class. The sense of responsibility in the heart also grows gradually in invisible. After working in the student development committee for more than a year, I knew the activities in charge of the department like the palm of my hand, and my ability of writing and planning was greatly improved. I was elected as the vice minister of art. Last July, I participated in the national high school student leadership contest on behalf of our school with several other classmates and won the first prize. In the process of completing the project together, I learned to cooperate with each other, listen to others' ideas, and unite the whole team so that everyone can play their best role. Moving from an executive to a leader is the third change that SCCSC gave me.
While participating in the activities, I did not relax my study at all. Senior year is a stressful and busy year. Through hard work, I got a score of 7 in IELTS at the beginning of the second semester of my sophomore year. At that moment, I knew all the hard work would pay off. In addition to the required calculus and microeconomics AP courses, I also took physics and chemistry as electives. Especially in the months before the AP exam, I was overwhelmed by countless model exams, examination papers and complicated knowledge points. But I didn't give up. I will take notes carefully and make key points in class. Take ten minutes between classes to see if there are any questions you don't understand. When self-study at night, analyze the wrong questions carefully and check the knowledge omission. Finally, in the exam in May, I got a good score of five points in four subjects. I took an active part in many math competitions and got good results. In addition, I took part in the economic challenge competition with three other classmates and got the qualification to advance to the finals of the China division. After two years of accumulation and precipitation, I began to learn AP statistics by myself in the third year of high school. My learning ability has been greatly improved and I am able to start self-study, which I believe is also an essential ability in university study. This is the fourth transition that SCCSC has given me.
China and Canada have given me various opportunities to develop comprehensively. I gradually became independent from a little girl who was dependent on her parents. From not being able to manage time well, to being able to find a balance between extracurricular activities and study, I avoided difficulties, and now I dare to face up to them and try my best to solve them. In the past two years and more, I have found my future direction and worked hard for it. I want to tell the little girl that she made the right decision.
I appreciate SCCSC for the significant days.
