深圳（南山）中加学校模联社参加第七届中国南方国际模拟联合国年会 SCCSC Model United Nations Club Attends SCIMUN 2023

第七届中国南方国际模拟联合国（SCIMUN）年会于2023年3月16日至18日在深圳QSI学校举行。深圳（南山）中加学校模联社的10名学生代表参加了此次活动，他们很好地履行了代表国家的使命，表现卓越。我们为他们感到骄傲。

INTRODUCTION

Model UN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business, and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as students.

BACKGROUND

The seventh annual Southern China International Model United Nations (SCIMUN) conference was held March 16th-18th, 2023 at the QSI Secondary Campus, Shenzhen, China.

This year, SCIMUN presented the following committees: Security Council (SC), Disarmament and International Security (DISEC), World Health Organization (WHO), Human Rights Council, (HRC), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

SCCSC ATTENDEES

Ten delegates attended the event from Shenzhen (Nanshan) Concord College of Sino-Canada, and they represented the following countries at SCIMUN. We had attendees from grades 10 to 12.

PURPOSE

The values of creating new ideas and celebrating new ways of doing things. MUN is always looking for innovative solutions to solve problems and to improve the lives of those in need. There is room for the display of creativity at the MUN in solving complex problems using various skills such as reading comprehension, critical analysis, core-problem identification, research, and problem resolution.

SKILLS

Academic debate is an effective method to enhance the competencies of critical thinking, problem-solving, communication skills, and cooperation skills.

A good debater will also remember to retain an element of poise and composure – addressing the issue rather than getting carried away emotionally.

Debating will also help you learn how to construct meaning out of, what are usually, rather complex topics. It requires an individual to be much more politically and socially aware of current affairs.

CONCLUSION

Learners were put into a life-like competitive situation and had to display poise and grace with the challenge of researching, writing position papers, defending their position, debating their position as well as those of others, drafting a resolution, and going through the process of reaching a consensus.

The SCCSC SCIMUN delegates contained their pressure well and performed their mission of representing their countries in the best manner possible. We are proud of them.
